Easter Dresses

I have never sewn a dress before. Becky is our resident sewing expert and out of the kindness of her heart decided to teach help this novice out. I was so excited to learn something new!

We got together to cut out the dress pieces and I was already lost. I swear sewing patterns are in a whole different language!!! Becky helped me figure out the sizes and we we worked away on our Gracie Portabellopixie pattern.

Since Becky and I can't be together all the time, we worked on sewing our dresses separately.  After sewing the first 2 pieces together I had used my seam ripper 4 times and sewn the dress together 3 times! I finally figured out that this was a dress and it needed a whole in the middle for a person to wear it! I was so proud of my two pieces I had to send Becky a picture message. I vowed I wouldn't make any more mistakes because I knew what I was doing now! I was feeling pretty smug and excited when... I sewed the dress together again and almost swore! Seriously, be smarter then the dress Juliana!!!

In the end my seam ripper count was up to 10 and I only sewed the dress together 5 times. Good thing I love these two darling little girls and wanted to work hard for them! I even made Addy a little fabric headband! They got to wear them for Easter Sunday and in the end it was the girls that made the dresses cute, not the other way around! :)

Happy Easter Everyone!

(heart) Juliana

So, I didn't finish my dresses early like Juliana did--I was up until 11:30 p.m. the night before Easter Sunday sewing!  But, they are finished and cute, if I do say so myself.  I was so excited about them that night, I hung them up on the doorknob, like my mom would do for me when I was little, and couldn't wait to show the girls in the morning.  This was the best pic I could get Easter Morning:

Lame!  Shay couldn't stop yawning and Lexie kept complaining her eyes hurt because the light was too bright. :(  It's cool though--they were much  nicer once they got their dresses on....they even acted excited.  :)  Here they are!

I wanted some pics without the sweaters to show off the dress, and neither of the girls were in the mood to pose.  Here is Shay throwing rocks at me: she missed btw.

Here she is telling me I have a stinky bum.  Isn't she lovely?

Best dress shot I got....Cute though right?  I LOVED the fabric!

So, Happy belated Easter from me!  So far, the tradition of making Easter dresses for my girls continues--Let's hope that next year I will be finished a week early! But don't hold your breath,  because I'm sure not;)

Creating Keepsakes Convention

So last weekend I got to go to Arizona all by myself!!! It's the first time I've left the kids and gone to do something fun for myself! I missed my little darlings, but had a blast seeing my family and going to the Creating Keepsakes Convention. My mom is an expert srcapbooker and I was so excited to go to this scrapbooking convention with her.

We took classes each morning and then shopped at the Vendor Fair. My Favorite both was Embelish It!! Who doesn't love Basic Grey paper? I was in love with the kits and got quite a few.

I love this kit from Crete Paper called Neighborhood. It will be perfect for scrapbooking pictures of my little girls! (When I finish some, I'll share them with you!)

This kit is called Sweet Threads from Basic Grey and I love it!!!! Check out the amazing canvas petals!! I'm in love with anything canvas right now.

One of the CK Classes I took was called Write From the Heart. We finished this layout and they gave lots of journaling tips! My scrapbooking mantra is "Telling Our Story." That is what inspires and motivates me to scrapbook. So I love journaling.

I love all these little tags for journaling and yes, I need to add pictures to the layout of course. I was so happy my sister Jen joined us for this class.

I LOVED the CK classes because they taught you things while you did layouts. I loved my Material Girl   class were we got to work with fabric paper from American Crafts.  I have seen it used on the Dear Lizzy blog and was so excited to try it out for myself. I love Dear Lizzy.

Another Favorite of mine was this booth with trim. Is there anything better then flower ribbon? Becky and I were so excited to find yellow!!! I also love the turquoise. Just wait until you see what we are going to do with them!!! I probably should have bought a lot more.

I love these flowers and they will be a new addition to our shop! I love the texture. These will be perfect for the fall!

After we had dinner, mom and I went to Scrapbooks Etc for their late night crop. It is one of my favorite stores in the whole world. Not only do they have tons of scrapbooking supplies. They also carry an entire wall or ribbon and trim and a HUGE fabric section featuring Moda Fabrics. I always am so inspired by the projects, classes, and everything I see! I love adding fabric and sewing on my scrapbook pages.

I have been searching for this little Bliss Jelly Roll for a while and finally found it. I want to try to make a fun strip quilt. I love getting quilting ideas from Moda Bake Shop

It was such a fun trip. I was so happy to see family and get to scrapbook with my mom. I have so many fun things now I can't wait to get creating!!!

I heart Juliana....

So, yesterday was my Birthday....And if there is one thing to know about me, it's that I LOVE MY BIRTHDAY!  If there was one more thing to know about me, just for kicks, it's that I LOVE PRESENTS!  And of course Juliana knows this about me because she's cool like that, so she MADE me a present....and here it is!!!

It says, 'she knew she was loved'.....is that not the sweetest thing a person can say to you on your birthday?

What makes her even cooler is that she knows I love red, black and white so of course she did it in those colors!  And I think it totally looks like me--she definitely go the hair down and it has hearts---I heart hearts! ;)  I absolutely LOVE IT!

I couldn't ask for a better friend/sister in Juliana.  She makes me feel wonderful and we have so much fun doing anything together!  She brings me up and is there for me when I need her....I love you too Juliana!  Thanks for the AMAZING birthday present!  I will keep it forever not only because it's ridiculously cute, but because it means so much to me!

Reversible Nursing Cover

One of my really good friends had a baby a couple weeks ago....this was my present for her!  I mean, she did just have her  baby right, only like 2 weeks ago, so for me the fact that I'm finished already is AMAZING!  It's a nursing cover/hooter hider, whatever you wanna call it.  Just know that these are AMAZING when you are nursing a  baby.:)

And I just think they are so so cute....and truthfully I was impressed with how easy it was to make!

I didn't have a pattern to go by, because I'm too cheap to buy one:) But I am even still happy with the results!

Need I say more?  Anyway, it was a really fun and easy sew--When I have another baby I'm definitely making one of these babies for myself! Ha, no pun intended.....
Enjoy Barb!  Someday--hopefully this week, I will get it over to you!

She Can Art

I took an amazing mixed media class by Christy Tomlinson called the She Art Workshop. It was the funnest class ever! It really helped me find my inner artist! I have always had an interest in painting and this class showed me how to paint and craft and scrap book all together in a really modern fun way. I am so excited to share some of my canvases with you!

I love this canvas. It's simple are beautiful and so me!!! I can just feel the warmth of the sun from a hot summer day dancing on my skin, a cool summer breeze blowing through the flowers and through my hair, and the soft grass under my toes. I love summer time and love this subtle remind that I have so much to be grateful for in life!

After doing the invitations for our last party I still had purple and yellow and brown in my head. So I bravely took at my purple paint and created this rich and fun back ground. I love her textured skirt and printed shirt!

I read a poem, about how when it rains, the flowers grow, and when it rains the trees grow, and it made me think... that when it rains in our own lives, we grow. It's not easy when challenges come our way but  through those challenges we learn and get stronger. We grow.

I love these girls so much because there is so much power in a positive phrase. I think everyone should have one somewhere they can see it everyday and remind themselves that "they are loved," "they are beautiful," "they have so much to be grateful for," etc. I'm working on one for Mother's Day titled "She is the Heart of the Home."

I sold a few of these at our last party, so these all already have homes! An original canvas is $30. Watch for more to come, or if you would like me to custom make one for you or a friend send me an email at jujubstash@yahoo.com.
