Painted Signs

Thank you to everyone who helped make our jujuB party a HUGE success. Becky and I are working on our Holiday collection, so keep checking back to see all our holiday items that are coming soon to our Etsy store.

We also are doing a GIVEAWAY over at Gwenny Penny. We are so excited to send this awesome giveaway out to one of you, so hope on over and comment on your favorite item in our Etsy shop.

I love those gorgeous painted boards people have as decorations in their home. I put these together for our latest party. I love to paint and thought I would take a chance and try to paint my own. I went down to Lowes and bought a board that was 24 x 24 inches. Then I have them cut in half right there at Lowes. I went home and grabbed my handy sander and sanded all the edges.

I love the crackled look!!! I love to crackle everything. So I did a crackle technic as my foundation for these boards.

Go to your local paint store and grab some paint and a crackle medium. These are 3 of the ones that I used on the You Are My Sunshine Board. I used white as the base, then wait for it to dry. Next, apply a layer of Crackle Medium and wait for it to dry (or follow instructions on the bottle). It usually takes several hours for the crackle to dry. Then apply the top coat of paint and watch it crackle.

On this board I have a grey as the base coat, crackle medium and white as the top coat. I tried to take a close up shot so you can see the crackle affect.

Then I cut out some phrases using my Cricuit. Then I used this as a stencil and painted over the top. Afterwards I touched up all the insides of the letters. Then you are done!!!

Here are some of the boards that I did!!!

I love this Christmas one!
