Flower Hair Clips

Every Spring I LOVE to shop around all the craft stores--and even some decor stores, to seek out the new and 'too cute to say no to' flowers.  I always buy too many because my girls HAVE to have the option of pig tails with every outfit.:)  This year was fun though because my oldest daughter helped me put them together.  That's how easy they are!  Just had to show off a few of them--I love this time of year!
Don't you LOVE those purpley ones?

I think these were my favorite finds--they're different than any my girls have and I found these darling jewels that were just the right size!  Peony's rock!
 Mini Gerberas are a must!!

See, aren't they so so cute?  They'll just have to wear LOTS of pigtails this year!

Enjoy Spring while it lasts!!

Basic Camera Strap Tutorial

My husband bought me my first SLR camera last year for Christmas so of course I had to dress it up somehow!  I luckily had a few fabric scraps lying around, so I came up with this!  This is a GREAT beginner sewing project so if you are looking for something easy and quick, then this is definitely for you!

First, here is the list supplies you'll need:
Cutting Mat
Cutting Ruler
pins
1/8 yard of two coordinating fabrics each
Coordinating thread
Rotary cutter
Scissors

Ok--to get started you need to cut both your fabrics to be 28x3.  Now, that's what it was for my camera strap...measure your strap to figure out your exact measurements, taking into consideration a .5 seam allowance.  Here I've cut it to be three inches wide:

Here I cut it to be 28 inches long.  Adjust your measurements according to your personal camera strap.

Now, you fold your fabric .5 inch and press with your iron.  Make sure your wrong sides of the fabric are touching.

Repeat this on both sides of each fabric piece, like so...

Stitch right along the edge--use a .5 inch seam allowance.  Repeat on both sides of both fabric pieces.

Pin fabric pieces together, right sides together.

Stitch down both sides of fabrics--remember to back stitch!

Now turn your fabric...you can use whatever you want to help turn it--I usually use a wooden spoon, or this cute salad spoon I have.

Now iron it until it looks pretty and.....

YOU'RE DONE!  See how easy and quick that was?

Now, this is just a very basic camera strap....if you wanted to bling it up or deck it out, just do so before sewing your two fabric pieces together.  There is so many fun possibilities with this project!  Please please send us pics of ones you make!  Just email us--we'd LOVE to see your creativity and spin our this project!  xoxoxo, B

How lucky are we that we get to SPONSOR, (that's right, you heard me), Elle Apparel!! Magnet Picture Board Tutorial

I love pictures. I have pictures all over my whole house and it makes me happy every time I look at them. I wanted a cute way to display fun pictures and notes. I have made 2 of these Magnet Picture Boards for my house. The subtle black, white and sage one hangs by my front door and has pictures of my kids on it.  I picked soft subtle papers with a little romantic hint, so it would blend into my home decor. Just picture it filled with black and white pictures of family. The second one I have a little bolder. It is green, brown, tan and gold and hangs above my craft table. I love that I can easily change it with pictures from magazines, fabric swatches, thanks you cards, pictures and anything else that inspires me.

Board #1
(this board measures 36 x 24 inches)

Board #2
(this board measure 35 x 22 inches including the frame)

Supplies
white board (I got mine at Walmart because I like really really big white boards and they are a little cheaper there)
12 x 12 scrapbook paper
paper cutter
Mod Podge

This tutorial is so simple, but so awesome!! My little sister has a magnetic picture board in her room loaded with pictures of her friends and fun magnets.

Step #1. Get the paper that you like. This collection below is the Portrait Collection from Crete Paper. It would make a beautiful board. I love the yellows, turquoise, and black. Beautiful!

Step #2. Cut your paper into squares. On my first board. I cut my paper into 4 x 4 squares so I could get 9 squares from a 12 x 12 pieces of paper. On that board I wanted the squares small so I could see more of the prints. This is what I would recommend doing.

On my second board I wanted it really rustic and did big 6 x 6 squares and filled in the gaps with extra strips. On both of my boards, the paper didn't fit exactly, So I had to cut the squares shorter along the top  and side. If that bugs you, you'll want to measure your board and figure out exactly how big your squares need to be.

Step #3. Lay out all our squares on the board in your desired pattern. I didn't do a pattern on either board. I wanted it random and just played with it until I liked it.

Step #4. Put a good layer of Mod Podge all over your white board and lay your squares down. Then finish it off with another layer of Mod Podge on top.

And, oh my goodness, you're done!!!! Enjoy filling it up with lots of fun goodies!

Camera Strap

Becky, I heart you too!!!

Becky and have birthdays only a few weeks a part. She surprised me with this darling little number on my birthday along with a fun vintage bracelet.  It's a camera strap and I love the black, grey and yellow!! Yellow is like the best color ever!! We already decided we're going to have to make a whole bunch more of these, because we love them!!! The minky feels so good on your neck when you're doing a photo shoot. The most amazing part of this is Becky made the pattern up!! Is she super talented or what??? (If you saw our Easter Dresses here, you know I'm not the sewing brains of the operation.) We both have different strengths and that's why we're such a good pair!

It's comfortable and fun and I love that it makes my camera unique!
